Living A Life On Mission

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

Whether we are missionaries or not, we are supposed to be sharing The Gospel.

As humans, we all tend to get so caught up in our everyday lives that we don't do the most important thing in life which is sharing The Gospel.

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they

saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-20

Oftentimes, we only think of this passage as one that is specifically for people who lives their lives as missionaries. However, all Christians are called to live life like this. Just in your life, if you were to share the gospel with all of the people that you worked with and met, you would be following this command very well!

But the truth is, we don't share the message of Christ enough. If we truly believe the message of The Gospel, then we should be sharing with everyone we come in contact with!

One of my friends hit me with a challenge recently while in a Bible Study. We were all talking about how to love and serve others. The thing that he challenged us with was to find at least one person each day and ask them a simple question. The question was, "Has someone loved you today enough to let you know that Jesus loves you?" While extremely simple, the question has brought up the fact that if we truly love Christ, we will tell others about Christ. Along with that, if we truly love other people, then we will share The Gospel with them. Because if you think about it, we could be the only person that crosses paths with them that loves the Lord. And so us telling someone about Jesus could be the difference between them spending eternity in Heaven or in Hell.

When you think about it in that simple of a way, it is a simple choice. We are more inclined to share The Gospel when we think in terms of eternity!

So, just as Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things!"
